Iheanacho gives honest admission on Leicester City star Jamie Vardy

Kelechi Iheanacho has downplayed the possibility of fighting for a starting spot with Leicester City superstar Jamie Vardy.

The presence of Vardy, Leicester City’s first-choice striker for many years, has limited Iheanacho’s game time since his debut at the King Power Stadium.

The 27-year-old has also had to share game time with the English forward this season under new manager Enzo Maresca, as the former has started six of the Foxes’ eleven Championship games, while the latter has started the other five.

Iheanacho has stated his emotions about the situation by dismissing any rivalry between himself and the Leicester City legend.

“Let me put that right, it’s never a battle between me and Jamie, he’s a legend in the game, he’s done a lot for this great club, so it’s never a battle between me and Jamie,” the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup winner stated, according to LeicestershireLive.

“If he plays, he scores; you know how he is.” So, if I play, I contribute. It’s never a battle for myself, Jamie, or Patson (Daka); we’re content with where we are right now.”

This season, the pair have scored four goals each for the one-time Premier League winners in the Championship.

Iheanacho, on the other hand, has been in better scoring form of late, netting three goals in his previous three games while Vardy has tallied twice in the same period.
