Town manager Kieran McKenna has provided an update on the status of two key players ahead of Friday’s match against Rotherham United.
Striker Freddie Ladapo, who previously played for Rotherham, will be absent due to an Achilles injury.
Ladapo, who joined Ipswich Town in the summer of 2022, is currently receiving specialist treatment for this issue.
McKenna expressed hope that the injury is not too severe and indicated that Ladapo won’t be available for the upcoming weekend match, with his availability for next week’s games still uncertain.
In addition, center-back Elkan Baggott missed Indonesia’s second World Cup qualifier due to a minor back problem. Indonesia secured their place in the 2026 World Cup qualification round two after winning their first-round tie 12-0 on aggregate, so Baggott’s absence in their 6-0 victory over Brunei did not impact their progress.
McKenna explained that Baggott had some back stiffness, but he is expected to return with the team following their match against Rotherham.
On a positive note, goalkeeper Christian Walton and center-half Axel Tuanzebe participated in an in-house match at Portman Road, with Tuanzebe playing for 60 minutes.
Although they weren’t involved in the upcoming match, McKenna expressed optimism that Tuanzebe might be available for first-team action in the coming weeks.
