Eddie Howe confirms two players will definitely not start vs Borussia Dortmund

Eddie Howe, manager of Newcastle United, has offered an update on his players ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund.

It appears like the Magpies will use the same lineup that defeated Crystal Palace 4-0 on Saturday to climb up to sixth in the Premier League.
The focus now shifts to the Champions League, where Newcastle presently leads their group. They play Borussia Dortmund, who are in last place after only one point in their first two games.

Regardless, it will be a difficult game for Howe’s side, and the Toon manager has offered an injury update ahead of the European match.

Howe speaks to the media ahead of the game against Dortmund. He verified that Sandro Tonali is still available at this time, while also naming two players who have yet to return.
“Sandro’s fit, fine,” he stated.

In his absence, Jamaal Lascelles will partner Fabian Schar at center back. The captain is playing excellently despite being pushed back into the starting lineup after a lengthy absence.

Regarding Tonali, it appears that the team is simply awaiting confirmation of his suspension. They will continue to consider the 23-year-old for selection until then.

It would be fantastic if he could play against Borussia Dortmund, as he has a wealth of Champions League experience that would be invaluable to us on Wednesday night.
