The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a lopsided Week 3 defeat at the hands of the Chicago Bears, and things won’t get any easier in Week 4. They’re set to face the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football in a matchup being spotlighted as Micah Parsons’ first meeting with his former team. Owner Jerry Jones has already made headlines this week for the controversial trade that sent Parsons to Green Bay, but beyond the drama, this game carries major weight for Dallas.
At 1-2, the Cowboys can’t afford to slip to 1-3, a hole that would be difficult to climb out of. On the other hand, a win over the Packers would give them a significant boost in momentum moving forward.
The challenge is steep. Green Bay has looked every bit like a Super Bowl contender so far this season, despite a stumble last week against the Cleveland Browns. Making matters worse, Dallas was hit with troubling injury news just days before kickoff. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, cornerback Trevon Diggs missed practice with a lingering knee issue, putting his Week 4 status in doubt.
“Cowboys-Packers injury report. One corner (DaRon Bland) is limited in his return, but the other (Trevon Diggs) doesn’t practice,” Archer posted on X.
Strong play in the secondary will be vital against Jordan Love and the explosive Packers offense. Dallas has already struggled with consistency on defense, and losing Diggs would only magnify those problems, leaving the Cowboys vulnerable to another high-scoring opponent.
Diggs has battled durability issues in recent seasons, but when healthy, he’s a true difference-maker and one of the NFL’s top ballhawks. His availability could very well shape the outcome of Sunday’s contest. For now, Dallas fans will have to wait for the next injury report to see whether their star cornerback will suit up in what may be one of the most important early-season games of the year.
