Breaking: Phillies Offseason Blockbuster Move Will Shake The Entire MLB World

The Philadelphia Phillies are waiting to see who they will face in the MLB postseason. After obtaining a bye owing to their outstanding regular season, their sole focus is on winning the World Series.

However, it is never too early to begin planning for the offseason. In fact, the front office is definitely looking into ways to improve the team even further.

With that said, an intriguing idea has been made for the Philadelphia Phillies.

According to Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report, Philadelphia is among the top potential offseason suitors for New York Mets star slugger Pete Alonso.

“What if they fail to re-sign Kyle Schwarber, though, resulting in a void at DH to be filled by Harper and/or Castellanos?” Miller wrote. “Doesn’t Alonso’s 158 home runs since the beginning of 2022 become the logical top target to backfill the 187 home runs Schwarber has hit during that time?”

Pete Alonso Rumors and Free Agency 2024-2025

During the 2025 MLB season, Alonso appeared in 162 games for the Mets. He hit 38 home runs and had 126 RBIs while also hitting. 272/.347/.525 with an OPS of.871.

At 30 years old, Alonso still has some strong years ahead of him. Picking him up would be a fantastic boost to the Phillies, especially if they lose Kyle Schwarber to another team in free agency.

Hopefully, Philadelphia is able to keep Schwarber. That would be a perfect situation. However, switching to Alonso might not be a bad consolation prize.

Obviously, this is only a notion at this point in time; the offseason hasn’t arrived, and the Phillies have some playoff games to win before worrying about who they’re going to sign. It’s simply something to keep an eye on in the coming weeks and months.
