Because of their mediocrity this season, the St. Louis Cardinals made it easy to forget how good they were supposed to be. They have missed the postseason for the past three years in a row. Their last trip was in 2022, when the Philadelphia Phillies defeated them in a two-game NLWC series. The Cardinals, once a club that New York Mets supporters envied, have grown less respectable in recent seasons.
