Breaking News: Red Sox Confirms Deal For $79 million Three-time All-Star Slugger In Blockbuster

After a season where their power numbers ranked among the league’s middle tier, the Boston Red Sox could use a true slugger to boost their lineup this offseason. Fortunately, a familiar face might be available to fill that role.

Fansided’s Cody Williams suggests that Boston could emerge as a prime destination for former Red Sox standout star, who’s set to hit free agency this winter.

“Simply put, the Red Sox should’ve never let Kyle Schwarber walk after acquiring him in 2021. Now that he’s set to hit free agency again, not making him their top priority would be a huge mistake,” wrote Williams. “Even as a left-handed hitter, he doesn’t struggle against lefties — in fact, he mashed them this past season. Sure, his batting average can dip, but his plate discipline is elite. His power and overall game should age better than most sluggers at his level, even Pete Alonso.”

This year, Schwarber posted an impressive .240/.365/.563 slash line with 23 doubles, 56 home runs, and 132 RBI across 162 games. At 32 years old, he’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Given all that, a reunion with Schwarber makes plenty of sense for the Red Sox. The main challenge, however, would be figuring out what to do with current DH Masataka Yoshida, as Schwarber is now a full-time designated hitter.

Boston will need to make a move quickly — otherwise, contending teams across the league will line up with big offers for Schwarber, and the Sox could once again find themselves watching from the sidelines.
