According to Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley, Schwarber could ultimately return to Philadelphia on a four-year contract. “It’s possible the Phillies are considering major changes this offseason,” Buckley wrote. “After all, they’ve taken steps backward in their postseason runs — from losing the 2022 World Series to falling in the NLCS in 2023, and now exiting in the Divisional Series the past two years.
“That said, Schwarber has been outstanding through his four seasons in Philadelphia, hitting 187 home runs and driving in 434 runs. It’s clear why the team would want to keep him. They have the financial flexibility to do so, though it could limit their ability to make other big additions.”
The Phillies should make retaining Schwarber their top offseason priority. He’s not only one of their best players but also a beloved fan favorite. Letting him walk could set the franchise back in its pursuit of another deep postseason run.
