The Auburn Tigers officially moved on from Hugh Freeze this past week, ending his tenure after nearly three seasons on the Plains.

Freeze finished his Auburn stint with a 15-19 record, and the Tigers currently sit at 4-5 on the year with losses to Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Georgia, Missouri, and Kentucky.
With three games remaining in the regular season, Auburn now turns its focus to finding its next head coach. Several potential candidates have already been mentioned, but the program isn’t expected to make a final decision until after the season concludes.

On Tuesday, updated betting odds for Auburn’s next head coach were released — and it didn’t take long for the list to start making the rounds on social media.

According to BetOnline (via Sports Media’s Taylor Korn), Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall currently leads the odds at +150 to become Auburn’s next head coach.

He’s followed by interim coach DJ Durkin at +200, former Penn State head coach James Franklin at +400, and Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham at +900. Georgia Tech’s Brent Key and former Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher are also contenders, both listed at +1200.
Jon Sumrall is currently in his second season at Tulane, where he led the Green Wave to a 9-5 record last year and has them sitting at 6-2 so far in 2025.
Before taking over at Tulane, Sumrall built an impressive track record at Troy, compiling a 23-4 overall record during his time there.
Meanwhile, Auburn is hoping to win at least two of its final three games to secure bowl eligibility, with upcoming matchups against No. 16 Vanderbilt, Mercer, and No. 4 Alabama.
