Breaking: Mariners receive $340 million contract news for three-time All-Star

The Seattle Mariners delivered an impressive playoff run, coming just one win short of reaching their first-ever World Series. Though they fell short, the team is determined to take another shot next season.

According to FanSided’s Christopher Kline, the Mariners should make a major move to finally break through—by trading for three-time All-Star and former MVP contender Fernando Tatis Jr.

“This would probably be ideal for Tatis geographically, as it keeps him on the west coast (albeit on the opposite end). The Seattle Mariners are also in a position to contend for years to come, with a supercharged pitching staff and an increasingly potent offense, anchored by an MVP candidate in Cal Raleigh and a perennial All-Star in Julio Rodríguez. Seattle risks losing several major contributors this winter, however, as Eugenio Suárez, Josh Naylor and Jorge Polanco are all free agents. Depending on how that market shakes out, Seattle could find itself motivated to go all-in for a titanic talent like Tatis — especially given the depth of the Mariners’ farm system,” Kline explained.

Tatis posted a .268/.368/.446/.814 slash line last season, recording 27 doubles, 25 home runs, 71 RBIs, and 32 stolen bases across 155 games. If Seattle were to land him, their outfield—featuring Tatis, Julio Rodríguez, and Randy Arozarena—would easily rank among the best in the American League.

Adding Tatis would also benefit Cal Raleigh, giving him more opportunities to drive in runs thanks to the speed and on-base prowess of both Tatis and Rodríguez.

The Mariners have a clear opportunity to strengthen their World Series push, and building a deal for Tatis could be the bold move that gets them there.
