When the Auburn football team made the difficult choice to break ways with Hugh Freeze, you knew it would have a negative effect on recruitment. The Tigers had been able to cling on to 5-star defensive back Bralan Womack, but that might be changing shortly.

On Monday morning, recruiting guru Steve Wiltfong made official statement that 5-star safety commit Bralan Womack would change his mind and switch his verbal commitment to another SEC school. That’s right, Wiltfong believes the premier defensive back will choose Texas A&M instead. Womack was in College Station this past weekend for his visit, and the dramatic victory over South Carolina left an impression on him.

Auburn supporters must be quite annoyed by this situation. On August 21, Womack stunned many people when he revealed his commitment to the Tigers. Many people believed that Ryan Day and Ohio State would win the recruitment fight.
However, there has also been speculation that Womack could look into other programs now that Freeze is no longer in charge, including LSU. Would the door be open for the Buckeyes to make another charge at Womack and catch him this time?
That does not appear to be the case, as Mike Elko and Texas A&M are currently in the driver’s seat for making things official with Womack once the Early Signing Period begins in early December. This will be a great win for the Aggies, but a huge setback for Auburn.
According to the 247Sports Composite, the 5-11, 195-pounder is rated five stars, the No. 1 safety in the nation, and the No. 19 prospect overall in the 2026 class. Womack received 35 offers during his recruiting, with powerhouses around the country hoping to get his talents. All signs led to Auburn bringing him to campus, but Elko is about to pull a fast one on him.
