Dylan Cease and the Toronto Blue Jays allegedly reached an agreement, which is expected to ignite the starting pitching market this offseason.

Ranger Suárez, a starter for the Philadelphia Phillies, is one of the next pitchers to be signed off the market. After a fantastic season with the Phillies, Suárez is probably searching for a free agent contract of at least $150 million.

Fastball On’s Jackson Roberts Si recently predicted that Suárez would get a huge $171 million, six-year contract with the San Francisco Giants.
“Because he gives up a reasonably high number of fly balls, Suárez could thrive in a big ballpark, and the San Francisco Giants have long been a paradise for pitchers with that batted ball profile,” Roberts stated. “Plus, we know this Giants front office has no aversion to big-money deals.”

If the Giants wish to contend with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West, they must bolster their team with pitchers. This offseason, money shouldn’t be an issue, so a trade like this may make a lot of sense.

Finding a deal with an ace like Suárez makes much more sense than chasing a superstar like Kyle Tucker in free agency.
