Breaking News: Jedd Fisch Announces Another ‘Massive’ Commitment from Top Offensive Weapon

Geirean Hatchett’s time with the University of Washington is not over after all, despite the Huskies’ Alamo Bowl win in December.

Head coach Jedd Fisch revealed that Hatchett informed him he will return to Washington next season after the NCAA approved his waiver for a seventh year of eligibility. Speaking to reporters following the bowl game, Fisch said the news was “great,” recalling a moment on Senior Day against Oregon on Nov. 29 when Hatchett embraced him and said, “I’m going to do this twice.”

As a result, the 24-year-old lineman, who wrapped up his senior campaign with Washington’s 38–10 victory over Boise State in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 13, will be back alongside his brother Landen, a rising senior, on an experienced offensive line that had been viewed as one of the nation’s best before injuries took their toll.

The Hatchett brothers made their mark at Ferndale High School, overlapping for one season during Geirean’s senior year and Landen’s freshman year. Their younger brother, Chance, recently completed his sophomore season at Ferndale, emerging as a 6-foot-2, 225-pound standout at tight end and linebacker.

Washington finished the 2025 season with a 9–4 record, including a 5–4 mark in the Big Ten. Late losses to Michigan, Wisconsin, and Oregon ultimately derailed the Huskies’ playoff hopes.

Hatchett, a 6-foot-5, 310-pound right guard, is believed to have received the waiver due in part to a torn biceps that cut short his 2024 season while he was starting at left guard in the opener against Oklahoma. A mix of COVID-related waivers, injury exemptions, and a redshirt year has allowed Hatchett and other so-called “super seniors” to qualify for a seventh season.

Washington Husky offensive lineman Geirean Hatchett talks Washington’s 26-14 lost to Oregon.

He originally joined Washington in 2020 as a recruit under coach Chris Petersen, then transferred to Oklahoma following three coaching changes and a run to the national championship game in 2023. Hatchett returned to the Huskies for the 2025 season, starting all 12 games and standing as the only offensive lineman to do so.

Landen Hatchett, a 6-foot-3, 315-pound center, suffered a broken hand in the eighth game of the season against No. 23 Illinois. After playing one game with a protective club on his snapping hand, he was sidelined for the remainder of the year.
