Auburn continues to overhaul its roster under first-year head coach Alex Golesh, and the Tigers’ latest move comes at the expense of a familiar SEC foe.
According to a Saturday afternoon report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz and 247Sports’ Auburn recruiting analyst Christian Clemente, Auburn is set to add Ole Miss transfer edge rusher Da’Shawn Womack. The pickup carries extra significance beyond the rivalry angle—Womack arrived in college as a five-star recruit, bringing elite pedigree and high expectations with him to the Plains.
Womack recorded 27 tackles and two sacks during the 2025 season at Ole Miss, playing a role in the Rebels’ run to the College Football Playoff semifinals. Auburn will mark his third stop within the SEC, as his college career began at LSU before his stint in Oxford.
The addition comes at a critical time for the Tigers’ defense. Auburn lost its top two defensive ends and top two buck linebackers from last season, making Womack’s arrival both timely and impactful. His ability to line up at multiple spots along the edge gives Golesh valuable flexibility as he rebuilds the front seven for 2026.
Experience is another major factor working in Auburn’s favor. Womack has already proven he can compete in the SEC, logging meaningful snaps at two powerhouse programs. Prior to his season with Ole Miss, he spent two years at LSU, where he totaled 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks in Baton Rouge.
A Baltimore native, Womack didn’t grow up in SEC territory, but his college journey has firmly tied him to the conference. Now, he’s preparing for his third SEC chapter—this time in orange and blue—as Auburn looks to generate early momentum in the Golesh era on the Plains.
