Breaking News: Auburn Are Landing Top ‘Talented’ Five-Star Forward In Massive Move

As Auburn continues to navigate a season filled with transition and new faces, the program is also keeping one eye firmly on the future. While much of the attention remains on how the Tigers are performing right now in SEC play, recruiting momentum behind the scenes is just as critical, especially under first year head coach Steven Pearl. With guidance from his father and longtime Auburn leader Bruce Pearl, the Tigers have assembled a roster largely made up of newcomers, signaling a long term vision that extends well beyond this season.

That future focus will be on display this week, as one of the nation’s elite prospects prepares to get his first close look at Auburn basketball.

Highly touted junior Gabe Nesmith has announced that he will take an unofficial visit to Auburn for Wednesday night’s conference matchup. The 6 foot 5 wing is widely regarded as one of the premier players in the 2027 recruiting class. According to 247Sports, Nesmith ranks as the top prospect in Georgia, the No. 18 player nationally in his class, and the seventh best small forward in the country.

Nesmith, who hails from Montverde, Florida, currently competes in the Overtime Elite league, a national program designed to develop top level high school talent. While he has not yet appeared in a regular season game, he made an early impression during the 2026 preseason by averaging 12.3 points and 4.8 rebounds across four contests.

Landing a player of Nesmith’s caliber would be a major statement for Auburn’s 2027 class, which remains largely undefined as the program reshapes its roster for the coming years. At the same time, the Tigers’ 2026 recruiting group is still thin, with three star shooting guard Caleb Williams currently standing as the lone commitment, suggesting that Pearl may need to balance immediate and long term recruiting priorities.

The timing of Nesmith’s visit could not be better. Auburn enters Wednesday’s game riding a three game SEC winning streak that includes victories over South Carolina, Ole Miss, and a Florida team that was ranked 16th at the time. With momentum building on the court, the Tigers now have an opportunity to showcase both their present competitiveness and their future potential.

Tipoff at Auburn Arena is scheduled for 6 p.m. CST, and with a top national recruit in attendance, the stakes feel a little higher than usual.
