Wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings and the Washington Huskies got off to a strong start in the 2027 recruiting cycle. Washington secured its third commitment of the cycle when top talented wide receiver from Goodyear, Arizona, announced he would join the Huskies during a CBS Sports YouTube livestream.

He becomes the second receiver to commit under Cummings after local Sumner High standout Braylon Pope pledged earlier. Listed at 6-foot, 175 pounds, Sidney chose Washington over Arizona State and Oklahoma. A four-star recruit, he is ranked the No. 6 player in Arizona, No. 36 wide receiver nationally, and No. 346 overall in the 247Sports composite rankings.
“Not the biggest or strongest target, but attacks the football with impressive body positioning and can absorb contact in traffic,” 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins noted in his January 27 evaluation.
Sidney brought 30 FBS offers, including programs such as Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida State, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Purdue, SMU, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC, Vanderbilt, and Wisconsin.
Washington was the second Power Four program to offer Sidney, back in May 2024, months before his breakout sophomore season at Desert Edge High in Mesa, Arizona. After seeing action in four varsity games as a freshman, Sidney caught 45 passes for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns in 12 games during his sophomore year, helping Desert Edge win the 2024 Arizona Class 5A state championship.

Sidney’s junior season was hampered by injury, limiting him to just four games with 11 receptions for 111 yards and one touchdown. Ivins noted that Sidney “must rebound as a senior and keep developing, but should be viewed as a potential multiyear contributor at the Power Four level who can settle in as a reliable No. 2 option in a timing-based offense.”
Sidney’s commitment continues Cummings’ recent recruiting success. After ending the 2026 cycle strongly by flipping four-star receivers Jordan Clay and Trez Davis from Baylor and Tulane, Cummings secured Pope to kick off Washington’s 2027 class. Pope, a Sumner native, is the No. 1 player in Washington for 2027 and also a four-star prospect.
Over the past three recruiting cycles, Cummings has signed 11 wide receivers, including seven four-star recruits: Chris Lawson (2025), Marcus Harris (2025), Mason James (2026), Davis (2026), Clay (2026), Pope (2027), and now Sidney (2027). Only Harris, who transferred to UCLA on January 10, has left the program.
Sidney’s pledge also highlights Cummings’ continued success in Arizona recruiting. He is the third Arizona wide receiver to join the Huskies under Cummings, following Dezmen Roebuck and Raiden Vines-Bright, the latter of whom transferred to Arizona State on January 4. Arizona and California remain Washington’s most productive recruiting states, each producing three wide receivers over the past three cycles.
