College basketball recruiting continues to heat up as programs across the country aggressively pursue proven production and high-upside talent in the transfer portal and high school ranks. Among the newest names drawing serious attention is Robert Morris sophomore forward DeSean Gooe, whose combination of size, efficiency, and versatility has quickly elevated him into a priority target for several major programs. At 6 foot 8 inches and 230 pounds, Gooe brings a powerful frontcourt presence, and his consistent production during the 2025-26 season has made him one of the most intriguing breakout players in his class. Now, with Kentucky preparing to host him on an official visit, his recruitment is beginning to take a major step forward.

DeSean Gooe, a 6 foot 8 inch, 230 pound sophomore forward, is set to take a visit to Kentucky, generating significant buzz in college basketball recruiting as the Wildcats continue to pursue versatile frontcourt talent under head coach Mark Pope. The Robert Morris standout has emerged as one of the most efficient scorers in his conference, and his upcoming visit is viewed as an important step in his recruitment.

During the 2025-26 season with Robert Morris, Gooe has delivered strong production on both ends of the floor, averaging 15.2 points per game, 8.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks while playing 30.9 minutes per contest. His scoring efficiency has stood out nationally, with a field goal percentage between 62.9 percent and 63.2 percent, a three-point shooting mark of 57.1 percent, and a free throw percentage of 76.3 percent.

He has also earned major recognition for his performance, including Horizon League Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season and a selection to the 2024-25 Horizon League All-Freshman Team during his time at IU Indy before transferring to Robert Morris. He has posted standout single-game performances such as a 26-point outing against Milwaukee on December 7, 2025, and a 14-rebound effort against Northern Kentucky on December 30, 2025, along with a single-game efficiency rating of 31.

Before his college career, Gooe developed his game at Fairmont Senior High School in West Virginia and spent a postgraduate year at Fork Union Military Academy, building the physical tools and discipline that have helped him transition into a high-impact college forward.

With Kentucky continuing to prioritize size, versatility, and efficiency in its recruiting strategy, Gooe’s visit represents an opportunity for both sides to evaluate fit and potential role within the program moving forward.
