Breaking: Kentucky Lands 41-Points MVP Guard After Two Official Visits

The Kentucky Wildcats coaching staff has been highly active on the recruiting trail, with assistant coach Mo Williams playing a key role since joining head coach Mark Pope’s staff. Their latest focus is on strengthening the future roster by targeting elite prospects in the 2027 class.

One of those prospects is Chase Lumpkin, a highly regarded shooting guard who recently received a scholarship offer from Kentucky. Lumpkin shared news of the offer earlier this week, signaling the program’s serious interest in bringing him to Lexington.

Currently rated as a four-star recruit and ranked No. 45 in the Rivals Industry Rankings, Lumpkin hails from Powder Springs, Georgia, and plays for McEachern High School. He has been drawing significant attention from multiple programs thanks to his consistent performances and all-around skill set.

Lumpkin is coming off a standout showing at Nike’s EYBL Atlanta session, where he delivered an exceptional weekend performance. His efforts earned him MVP honors from Rivals after averaging 26 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and nearly three steals per game. His versatility and ability to impact all areas of the game make him an appealing addition for Kentucky as they plan ahead.

The Wildcats have been monitoring Lumpkin for some time. He has already visited Lexington on two occasions, attending Kentucky’s exhibition win over Purdue Boilermakers and their narrow defeat to North Carolina Tar Heels in last season’s ACC/SEC Challenge. Those visits helped establish an early connection between the player and the program.

Beyond Lumpkin, Kentucky continues to pursue other elite talents in the 2027 class. The staff recently visited and offered Ryan Hampton, a top-10 prospect, and also made the final five schools for Obinna Ekezie Jr., one of the top players in the class.

Both Hampton and Ekezie Jr. are reportedly considering reclassifying to the 2026 class, which could allow Kentucky to bring them in sooner. While their decisions remain uncertain, the possibility adds another layer of intrigue to the Wildcats’ recruiting strategy.

For now, Lumpkin has clearly emerged as a priority target as Kentucky continues shaping its future roster for the 2027–28 season.
