The Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball continue to build serious momentum on the recruiting trail, and their latest target could become one of the biggest additions in the coming years. Five-star wing Ryan Hampton of DME Academy is quickly emerging as a priority prospect after receiving a scholarship offer from Kentucky this week.
Hampton, widely regarded as a top 5–10 player in the 2027 class, has been turning heads with his elite two-way ability and polished offensive game. Standing out as a dynamic wing, he combines length, athleticism, and a high basketball IQ that allows him to impact the game in multiple ways. His performances at DME Academy have consistently showcased his scoring versatility, from attacking the rim with authority to knocking down perimeter shots under pressure.

During his most recent season, Hampton proved to be one of the most reliable players on his team. He averaged strong numbers across the board, contributing not only as a scorer but also as a rebounder and facilitator. His defensive presence has also been notable, often guarding the opposing team’s best player and disrupting plays with his quick hands and footwork.
Ryan Hampton established himself as a premier scorer, averaging over 25 points per game during the 2025 summer circuit. Known for high efficiency, he averaged 26.8 points on 61.4% field goal shooting at the Peach Jam and over 21 points in early Grind Session games.
The buzz surrounding Hampton isn’t just about his current class ranking. There is growing speculation that he could reclassify to the 2026 class, a move that would accelerate his college decision timeline and make him an even more immediate priority for top programs. Kentucky’s coaching staff, led by Mark Pope, has already made a strong impression after hosting him, signaling serious interest in securing his commitment.
While Kentucky is firmly in the mix, Hampton’s recruitment remains competitive. LSU and SMU have also positioned themselves as contenders, each hoping to land the elite wing. However, discussions of an official visit to Lexington suggest the Wildcats may have an early edge.
As the recruitment heats up, Hampton hinted that Kentucky could be hard to pass up. “Kentucky is definitely a place I’m looking at closely,” he said. “The way they develop players and the vision they have for me really stands out. If everything keeps trending this way, it’s going to be tough to say no.”
