Ahead of matchup against the San Diego Padres, Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski offered an update, calling Miller’s injury “complicated.” According to 97.5 The Fanatic, Dombrowski said the 21-year-old infielder is expected to miss the next seven to nine weeks and is unlikely to return this season. The organization is now targeting a full recovery in time for spring training in 2027.

“We’ve been very close. Numerous times where we’ve been close to where we think [he can] get out, taking the next step. He just has not been able to quite get to that point,” Dombrowski explained. “He’s seen specialists throughout the last three months. But they feel [the procedure] is the logical next step, and they think this will help…”

He added that multiple evaluations have been conducted by both outside specialists and team medical staff, emphasizing the complexity of the injury. “It’s a very complicated situation… when you’re dealing with multiple muscles and joints… there’s been a feeling [the specialists] know where [the injury] is. It’s been a matter of eliminating the pain.”
