BREAKING: MLB Insider Drops ‘Massive’ Bo Bichette Trade Announcement

The New York Mets’ disastrous 2026 campaign continues to spiral. Although they managed to secure a 7-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, the club still sits at the bottom of the NL East standings with a disappointing 27-35 record. Nearly everything that could go wrong for New York this season seemingly has, as injuries and major underperformance have derailed a team that entered the year hoping to rebound from last season’s collapse.

Even with around 100 games still left on the schedule, trade deadline discussions are beginning to heat up, and the Mets could soon face several difficult roster decisions. If their struggles continue — which appears increasingly possible given the current state of the team — New York may ultimately shift into seller mode before the deadline arrives.

Still, Mets insider Chelsea James of SNY does not believe the organization is ready to move on from its marquee offseason addition, Bo Bichette.

“I do not see them trading Bichette. I guess if they totally swoon between now and then and are totally, completely, irrevocably out of it, that could maybe be on the table. But with his salary and the fact that he has yet to produce anywhere near where he normally does, that seems highly unlikely,” James wrote in her mailbag.

At this point, the Mets appear committed to giving the Bichette experiment more time. It is also difficult to imagine rival teams aggressively pursuing him given his disappointing production and massive contract situation. Bichette is only in the first season of his deal, and with the way he has struggled, many expect him to opt into the remaining two years worth $110 million.

The 2026 season has been brutal for Bichette so far, as he currently owns a .590 OPS. Questions have also emerged regarding his health, similar to the issues that contributed to his difficult 2024 campaign with the Toronto Blue Jays. Between lingering concerns about his condition and his ongoing struggles at the plate, Bichette’s trade value has taken a significant hit.
