Something is clearly shifting on the Plains. Auburn football, long eager to reclaim its place among the SEC’s elite, is beginning to show real signs of life — and it’s happening where championships are built first: recruiting. Under Alex Golesh, the Tigers are developing a reputation as a relentless force on the trail, winning key battles, flipping rivals’ targets, and stacking elite talent at a pace that’s turning heads across college football. The message is becoming louder by the day — Auburn isn’t rebuilding quietly. It’s rebuilding boldly.

Alex Golesh continues to reshape Auburn football with a growing list of off-the-field victories. The Tigers have surged on the recruiting trail, recently flipping a highly regarded prospect away from Alabama and strengthening their foothold in one of the nation’s most talent-rich states. That momentum hasn’t slowed.
Auburn has now secured another major commitment, adding a blue-chip defender from Mobile, Alabama. The pledge marks yet another recruiting win over several national powers and reinforces the staff’s ability to close on elite talent.
The four-star linebacker ultimately chose Auburn over Georgia and Florida. He is ranked as the sixth-best linebacker in the country and the second-highest rated player from Alabama. The defensive standout credited Auburn’s coaching staff — including DJ Durkin and Brad Wilson — for leading the charge during his recruitment and making him feel confident about his future in the program.

“They’re great guys,” he said previously. “They believe I can play early, and they have a strong track record of sending players to the NFL. The energy they bring really stands out. I feel like I fit well in their defense, and there are multiple roles where I can make an impact.”

That linebacker is Isaac McNeil, who is coming off an impressive junior season. McNeil piled up 92 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and nine sacks, showcasing his ability to disrupt plays at every level of the defense. His versatility extends beyond defense as well, as he also handled punting and placekicking duties for his high school team.
With McNeil now officially in the fold, Auburn has reached 14 commitments in its 2027 recruiting class. He becomes the second-highest-rated pledge of the Golesh era, trailing only running back Myson Johnson-Cook, who committed in April. Auburn now holds the 19th-ranked recruiting class nationally and sits fifth in the SEC — further proof that the Tigers’ momentum under Golesh is building quickly and decisively.
