The New York Mets opened a new series against the St. Louis Cardinals at Citi Field.
New York came into the matchup after a 7–3 road win over the San Diego Padres, but that momentum quickly faded, as the Mets were later shut out 7–0.

Mets Announce Roster Move
Ahead of Tuesday’s game, the Mets made a roster decision, sending catcher Hayden Senger back to Triple-A.
Senger has struggled in limited action this season, batting .133 with two hits, one home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored across seven games. This is his second year with the organization after appearing in 33 games during his rookie season.
While he doesn’t provide much offensive production, Senger is considered a reliable depth option at catcher. The 29-year-old was selected by the Mets in the 24th round of the 2018 MLB Draft and is valued for his defense and situational play.
Mets Right Now
The Mets enter the series sitting in last place in the National League East with a 29–36 record through 65 games. Still, there have been encouraging signs, as New York is 7–3 over its last ten games and sits at an even 15–15 in home contests this season.
After finishing the three-game set with the Cardinals, the Mets will remain at home to host the Atlanta Braves beginning Friday.

Cardinals Overview
St. Louis arrives in New York as the second-place team in the National League Central, holding a 35–28 record. The Cardinals have won six of their last ten games and have been solid on the road, posting a 16–12 away record.
Following their series against the Mets, the Cardinals will travel to Minnesota to face the Twins on Friday night.
