Auburn Tigers fans received disappointing recruiting news as one of the program’s offensive line targets has chosen to continue his future elsewhere. Highly regarded Pennsylvania lineman Terrance Smith announced his commitment to LSU, giving the Tigers a significant recruiting victory while dealing Auburn a setback in its efforts to strengthen the trenches for the future.
Smith, a standout at Lansdale Catholic High School, revealed his decision on Monday and celebrated the announcement with a spirited “Let’s Geaux!” message. His commitment came after a competitive recruiting battle that included Auburn, Tennessee, and Rutgers, all of whom were hoping to secure the versatile offensive lineman.
The 6-foot-6, 285-pound prospect is viewed as a player with tremendous upside thanks to his size, athleticism, and ability to develop into a multi-position offensive lineman. Smith projects as a player capable of contributing at both guard and tackle, making him an attractive target for several major programs.
Despite Auburn’s efforts to bring him to the Plains, Smith ultimately felt LSU offered the best overall fit. Explaining his decision, he emphasized the factors that mattered most throughout his recruitment.

“I’ve always been looking for the same three things in a school: relationships, culture and development,” Smith explained. “These schools all checked those boxes, but LSU just made the most sense for me.”
Smith also highlighted the atmosphere he experienced during the recruiting process, noting that LSU provided a strong sense of belonging. He described the program’s environment as having a genuine “family feel” and praised head coach Lane Kiffin, calling him a “super smart” coach, particularly when it comes to offensive strategy.
For Auburn, missing out on Smith represents a notable recruiting loss as the Tigers continue working to build depth and talent along the offensive line. While Auburn remains active in pursuing several other top prospects, Smith’s decision is a reminder of the fierce recruiting battles that take place across the SEC. Meanwhile, LSU adds another promising talent to its growing 2027 recruiting class and further strengthens its future plans in the trenches.
