A familiar face to Philadelphia Phillies fans is getting another opportunity to continue his professional baseball career.
After a short stint with the Chicago Cubs organization, former Phillies infielder has signed with the Milwaukee Brewers on a minor league contract, giving the 31-year-old another chance to work his way back to the major leagues. The move comes just months after Kingery’s time with the Cubs came to an end following his removal from the club’s 40-man roster.
Scott Kingery, who spent six seasons with the Phillies from 2018 through 2022, was once viewed as one of the franchise’s brightest young talents. Philadelphia signed him to a six-year contract extension before he even made his major league debut, signaling its belief that he would become a cornerstone of the club’s future.
While Kingery flashed his versatility by playing multiple infield and outfield positions, he struggled to establish consistency at the plate. Injuries and offensive inconsistency ultimately prevented him from living up to the lofty expectations that surrounded him early in his career.

After leaving Philadelphia, Kingery joined the Los Angeles Angels before signing a minor league deal with the Cubs ahead of the 2026 season. He earned a spot on Chicago’s Opening Day roster but appeared in only a limited role before being designated for assignment. After clearing waivers, he elected free agency, paving the way for his latest opportunity with Milwaukee.
The Brewers have developed a reputation for helping experienced players revive their careers, and Kingery will now look to capitalize on that environment. His defensive versatility remains a valuable asset, as he has experience at second base, shortstop, third base and all three outfield positions.

Although earning another extended major league opportunity won’t be easy, Kingery’s signing gives him a fresh start with an organization known for maximizing roster depth.
For Phillies fans, the move marks another chapter in the career of a player who arrived in Philadelphia with enormous expectations. While his tenure with the club didn’t unfold as hoped, Kingery now has another chance to prove he still belongs in the major leagues as he begins his next journey with the Brewers.
