As Atlanta continues exploring ways to strengthen its starting rotation for the second half of the season, Skubal has emerged as one of the most coveted pitchers potentially available. The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner would instantly transform the Braves’ rotation, making him an ideal target if Detroit were willing to listen to offers.
Despite the speculation, Skubal remains focused on helping the Tigers make a postseason run.
“I’ve never lost faith,” Skubal said of Detroit’s playoff aspirations, according to USA Today, expressing confidence that the Tigers have what it takes to compete for a World Series.
Still, the latest report highlighted presents a major hurdle for Atlanta. According to the report, Skubal has told people close to him that he prefers to remain with the Tigers rather than be traded, signaling his commitment to staying in Detroit as the club pushes for the playoffs.

Still, Detroit’s recent improvement in the standings has only strengthened the case for keeping its ace through the remainder of the season.
