BREAKING: Vitor Pereira in line for return after Nottingham Forest exit

Vitor Pereira could be heading back into management in Türkiye, with Trabzonspor reportedly exploring the possibility of appointing the former Nottingham Forest boss following his departure from the Premier League club during the summer.

According to Sabah, via Asist Analiz, Pereira is currently in discussions with Trabzonspor over a potential move. The Portuguese coach is said to be receptive to the idea of returning to Türkiye at this stage of his managerial career.

The 58-year-old has been without a club since leaving Nottingham Forest in the summer. Pereira had seemingly been in line to remain in charge for the new campaign after successfully guiding the club away from relegation danger last season.

Nottingham Forest ultimately decided to pursue a different direction, however. The club moved to appoint Oliver Glasner on a lucrative contract following his exit from Crystal Palace, leaving Pereira searching for his next opportunity elsewhere.

That opportunity could now arrive in Türkiye. Sabah claim that Trabzonspor have opened talks with the experienced manager, with Pereira willing to return to the Super Lig. There has been no indication yet regarding how advanced the negotiations are or whether an agreement is close.

Trabzonspor have also enjoyed a summer heavily influenced by the Premier League. Their high-profile signing of Mohamed Salah demonstrated their ambitions, meaning the appointment of a coach with recent Premier League experience would fit their current approach.

Knows Türkiye well

Vitor Pereira is certainly no stranger to Turkish football. He previously managed Fenerbahce for 25 matches in 2021, recording an average of 1.6 points per game during that spell.

It was his second stint with the Istanbul giants, having previously taken charge for 61 games between 2015 and 2016. During that earlier period, Pereira produced an impressive average of 2.07 points per game.

Since his second spell in Türkiye, Pereira has worked across several countries, enjoying managerial experiences in Brazil, Saudi Arabia and England, where he most recently coached Wolves and Nottingham Forest.

A third chapter in Turkish football could now be on the horizon if discussions with Trabzonspor continue positively. For the moment, Pereira has simply indicated that he would be willing to make the move after receiving early interest from the Turkish side.
