Major Transfer Bombshell: Nottingham Forest Reaches Agreement Signing Chelsea and AC Milan Strikers After Bid Sent

Nottingham Forest are approaching a crucial stage of their campaign as they look to improve their performances and revive their Premier League season ahead of the January transfer window.

Oliver Glasner’s side ended a disappointing run of three consecutive defeats with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on Friday night. However, Forest have managed just one league victory so far this season, leaving the club under pressure to turn their fortunes around.

With the winter transfer window approaching, speculation is growing over potential additions that could strengthen the squad. Several players have already been linked with a move to the City Ground as Forest considers their options.

Forest could revisit the Italian transfer market after reportedly showing interest in AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

According to TEAMtalk, the Reds have checked on the former Chelsea midfielder as they assess possible reinforcements for January. Brentford have also reportedly monitored the situation, while Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have expressed interest in Loftus-Cheek’s AC Milan teammate, Fikayo Tomori.

Both players are approaching the final stages of their current contracts, potentially opening the door to moves back to English football in the new year. AC Milan are reportedly willing to negotiate with interested clubs.

Loftus-Cheek is understood to be interested in returning to the Premier League after spending three years in Italy following his departure from Chelsea.

The midfielder brings considerable experience, having made more than 100 Premier League appearances for Chelsea while also spending loan spells with Crystal Palace and Fulham.

Forest previously explored several midfield options during the summer transfer window but failed to complete every deal they wanted. James McAtee’s encouraging performances in a deeper role subsequently reduced the urgency to strengthen that position.

The club came close to securing Harrison Armstrong before Everton withdrew from the proposed move following a negative reaction from supporters. Forest were also linked with Liverpool youngster Trey Nyoni and Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall.

Loftus-Cheek could represent an experienced addition, particularly if his contract situation makes a relatively inexpensive deal possible. However, his age could be a consideration, given Forest’s recent preference for recruiting younger players with long-term potential.

Igor Thiago Emerges as Potential Attacking Solution

Forest’s problems in front of goal have also become a concern for Glasner, with the team struggling to convert opportunities despite creating promising chances.

Brentford striker Igor Thiago has reportedly emerged as a possible solution to those attacking difficulties.

According to reports from 4-4-2.com, Forest saw a €70 million (£58 million) bid for the Brazilian rejected during the summer transfer window.

Interest in the 25-year-old is believed to remain, although Tottenham and Aston Villa are also reportedly monitoring his situation.

Brentford are said to value Thiago at approximately €80 million to €90 million (£67 million to £75 million). His contract runs until 2031, meaning the Bees are in a strong position to demand a substantial transfer fee.

Any potential move would therefore require a significant financial commitment from Forest, particularly if competition for his signature increases.

Liam Delap Remains Central to Forest’s Plans

Despite the reported interest in Thiago, another major attacking signing in January appears uncertain.

Forest invested an initial £45 million to bring Liam Delap from Chelsea during the summer, making the 23-year-old their record signing.

Although Delap has yet to consistently deliver goals, he has shown glimpses of his ability, including an impressive strike against Aston Villa and a strong overall performance against Arsenal.

Glasner is believed to retain confidence in the former Chelsea forward and is expected to continue supporting his development as he adapts to his new surroundings.

Forest may therefore prioritize improving the performance of their existing attacking options rather than committing another substantial sum to a striker midway through the season.

Nevertheless, with results remaining inconsistent, the January transfer window could provide an important opportunity for the club to address weaknesses and strengthen its chances of climbing the Premier League table.

For now, Loftus-Cheek represents a potential midfield option, while Thiago remains an ambitious attacking target. Whether either deal progresses will depend on Forest’s financial priorities, transfer competition, and the club’s performances in the weeks ahead.
