David Moyes is reportedly “furious” with Everton’s owners over their lack of plans to strengthen what he considers a thin squad during the January transfer window, according to Football Insider.
With the Toffees currently up for sale, American owners The Friedkin Group (TFG) are not planning to invest in new signings when the January transfer window opens.
Even if Everton find themselves fighting to avoid relegation, Football Insider understands that TFG will only consider bringing in free agents and players on loan.
The owners have made it clear that their primary focus remains on Italian giants Roma, leaving Moyes increasingly frustrated with what he sees as a challenging task to keep Everton comfortably positioned in the middle of the Premier League table.
Despite making few additions during the summer transfer window, Everton currently sit 11th in the Premier League standings, four points above the relegation zone.
Nevertheless, supporters have voiced their frustrations at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with many believing the manager has been left without the necessary backing to improve his squad.
Behind the scenes, Moyes is reportedly in complete agreement with those concerns and fears that a handful of injuries could leave Everton embroiled in a relegation battle unless significant reinforcements arrive in January.
Could David Moyes Walk Away From Everton?
The situation on Merseyside has raised concerns among supporters that Moyes could decide to leave the club before the season ends rather than wait for the decision to be made for him.
Everton’s performances have been somewhat underwhelming, with the team recording four draws in their opening eight games. However, their struggles are perhaps understandable given the limitations of the current squad.
One of the biggest concerns is the lack of a natural backup for Thierno Barry in the central attacking position, leaving the 24-year-old to shoulder an enormous workload and play almost every minute of Everton’s Premier League campaign.
The full-back positions are another area of concern for Moyes, while the club’s summer recruits have yet to make a consistently positive impact across the pitch.
Despite these frustrations, Football Insider understands that the Scottish manager has no intention of walking away from Everton at this stage, even amid reported interest from Scottish giants Celtic.
TFG Exit Could Seal Moyes’ Fate at Everton

Although Moyes has no desire to force an exit, his future could ultimately be taken out of his hands if TFG successfully finds new buyers for the Hill Dickinson Stadium club.
There have been no concrete developments regarding a potential takeover so far, although Amanda Staveley is reportedly showing considerable interest in the Everton project.
Football Insider has previously reported that a change in ownership could bring Moyes’ time at the club to an end, a possibility that would not be unusual given the tendency of new owners to appoint their own preferred managers.
Stefan Borson has already predicted that Eddie Howe could be at the top of Staveley’s managerial shortlist if she takes charge at Everton, assuming the Newcastle United boss has not become Manchester United’s head coach by that point.
