Everton are preparing a major move to strengthen their attacking options, with Real Sociedad striker Orri Oskarsson emerging as a potential target ahead of the January transfer window.
The Icelandic international has attracted growing interest following his impressive performances in Spain, with several Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on his development. However, Everton are understood to be particularly interested in the 22-year-old as David Moyes considers how to address his side’s attacking problems.
Oskarsson, who captains his national team, has continued to build his reputation as one of the promising young centre-forwards in European football. Tottenham, Newcastle United, Sunderland and Brentford are also understood to have monitored his progress this season.
For Everton, the potential opportunity to bring in a striker could prove particularly important after their disappointing summer transfer window left Moyes short of recognised options up front.
The Toffees sold Beto to Fiorentina but failed to secure a replacement, leaving Thierno Barry as the club’s only recognised senior striker. Everton had been close to signing Folarin Balogun from Monaco before the proposed transfer dramatically collapsed, while a late attempt to bring Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee to Merseyside also proved unsuccessful.
Oskarsson has been with Real Sociedad since joining the Spanish club from Danish giants FC Copenhagen in 2024. Since then, he has developed into an increasingly exciting attacking prospect, with his performances in LaLiga and for Iceland attracting attention from several clubs in England.
Everton’s January move for Orri Oskarsson

Last season represented a major step forward in Oskarsson’s career, as he netted nine goals in LaLiga and helped Real Sociedad secure the Copa del Rey.
His physical attributes, composure in front of goal and ability to lead the attack have made him an attractive prospect for clubs searching for a long-term solution up front.
Standing at 6ft 1in, Oskarsson offers an imposing presence through the middle while also possessing the technical ability needed to thrive in Spain’s top division. He has maintained his progress this season, scoring three goals in eight LaLiga appearances.
His performances for Iceland have further enhanced his reputation. The 22-year-old has found the net five times in six international appearances this year, demonstrating his ability to deliver at senior level and strengthening the growing interest in his services.
Everton are understood to be among the clubs monitoring the striker particularly closely as they explore potential additions to their forward line in January. The Toffees continue to assess the available options, with Oskarsson emerging as one of the players on their radar.
However, Everton face competition from several Premier League rivals for the Icelandic international.
TEAMtalk understands that Tottenham, Newcastle, Sunderland and Brentford have all checked on Oskarsson this season as they continue to evaluate potential attacking reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window.
