JUST IN: Auburn Receive Ground-breaking Update Regarding Johni Broome

The Auburn Tigers’ season came to a close in the Final Four, falling to the eventual national champion Florida Gators. Now, fans are left to process the heartbreaking loss during the offseason. A major reason for Auburn’s success was Johni Broome, who proved to be one of the most impactful transfers in college basketball history. He racked up multiple accolades and was a finalist for National Player of the Year. Broome’s standout season has boosted his stock in recent NBA mock drafts, with the latest from ESPN projecting him to go 38th overall to the San Antonio Spurs — a team brimming with potential.

In this scenario, Broome would join forces with superstar Victor Wembanyama, forming an exciting frontcourt duo. He’s projected to slot in at power forward, and if injuries don’t get in the way, the Spurs’ starting lineup could feature De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Johni Broome, and Wembanyama. However, with veterans Keldon Johnson and Harrison Barnes currently playing well, Broome might not start right away. Still, his presence on the roster could help make San Antonio a serious contender in the near future.

The mock draft also has the Spurs picking Duke freshman Kon Knueppel at No. 8 and French center Joan Beringer at No. 15. Knueppel brings immediate playmaking ability, while Beringer adds valuable depth, potentially giving San Antonio one of the most formidable frontcourts in the league. Currently sitting 13th in the Western Conference and out of playoff contention — in part due to Wembanyama’s season-ending shoulder blood clot — the Spurs are turning their focus to the 2025–26 season, which looks increasingly promising.
