The Boston Red Sox made a quiet move, trading right-handed pitcher to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for 19-year-old outfielder, a Competitive Balance Round A draft pick, and a player to be named later or cash. While the deal didn’t make major headlines, Rodriguez is already turning some heads.
Rodriguez, who hails from the Dominican Republic, wasted no time making an impression with the Red Sox’s High-A affiliate in Greenville. Batting leadoff, he went 2-for-5 with a double and a triple while patrolling center field against the Asheville Tourists. Though he struck out twice, his debut performance showed flashes of his dynamic potential.
MLB Pipeline now ranks Rodriguez as the Red Sox’s No. 11 prospect—a notable spot considering the strength at the top of Boston’s farm system. Prior to joining Greenville, Rodriguez was on fire with High-A Wisconsin, batting .417 with a double, triple, and three runs scored in just three games. His 2023 season with Single-A Carolina included a .250/.343/.383 slash line, 23 doubles, six triples, seven homers, and 60 RBIs.

Originally signed by the Brewers in 2023, Rodriguez brings a well-rounded skill set. He’s earned a 55 grade for speed and 50s across the board for hitting, power, arm, and defense. With Boston’s development system now guiding his path, Rodriguez could emerge as a valuable asset in the Red Sox’s future plans.
