Breaking: Bills’ division rival is one step closer to losing major star defensive player to Bills

For years, the Miami Dolphins have done everything they can to dethrone the Buffalo Bills atop the AFC East, but they’ve consistently fallen short. Ever since Tom Brady’s departure from New England, the division has belonged to Buffalo — and with Josh Allen at quarterback, that dominance doesn’t look like it’s ending anytime soon.

The Dolphins came close to winning the division during the 2023-2024 season, but the Bills snatched it away in dramatic fashion during a Week 18 primetime showdown in Miami. Buffalo edged out a 21-14 win, securing home-field advantage in the playoffs, while Miami was forced to travel to frigid Kansas City for their postseason game.

Heading into last season, many pegged the Dolphins as the likely AFC East champions, especially with the Bills losing key players in free agency. But Buffalo once again swept Miami and locked up the division title by Week 13. Meanwhile, the Dolphins stumbled to an 8-9 finish and missed the playoffs. While much of Miami’s offseason attention has been on Tyreek Hill for various reasons, major news has now emerged involving their top defensive star.

Bills may no longer have to face CB Jalen Ramsey in the AFC East

According to NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Dolphins and Jalen Ramsey are “mutually set to explore trade options,” signaling a strong chance that Ramsey won’t be with the team in 2025. Any team trading for him would take on $21.1 million, as Miami has already paid him a $4 million roster bonus.

Ramsey was brought in during the 2023 offseason to bolster Miami’s secondary, and despite missing the first part of the season with a knee injury, he still earned Pro Bowl honors after playing in just ten games. Last season, however, he didn’t receive any accolades — only the third time in his career — though his performance remained solid.

With this development, the Dolphins appear to be moving closer to parting ways with a cornerstone of their defense. From the Bills’ perspective, this is great news. Ramsey is still a top-tier corner, and not having to scheme around him twice a year would definitely simplify Buffalo’s game plan.
