The New York Giants have invested a considerable amount of time evaluating Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders throughout the pre-draft process. They closely followed his performance by attending several of Colorado’s games and practices, met with him at the NFL Scouting Combine, and sent a group of coaches, scouts, and front office personnel to observe Colorado’s pro day.
Their interest in Sanders remains strong as the draft approaches. With just over a week to go before the NFL Draft, the Giants are planning one final meeting with him.
Giants Set for Final Private Workout with Shedeur Sanders
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Sanders will host a final private workout this Thursday in Boulder, Colorado, specifically for a group of Giants officials.
The Giants currently hold the third overall pick in this year’s draft, positioning them to potentially select Sanders. While he has long been considered a possible target, their recent signings of veteran quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson suggest they may not be desperate to add a rookie QB. Still, both veterans are on short-term, affordable contracts—Winston is 31 and Wilson is 36—so Sanders remains a viable option at No. 3.6
This upcoming workout certainly signals strong interest from New York, though it doesn’t guarantee a pick. Last year, the Giants conducted a similar late visit with Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy on Easter Sunday but ultimately chose not to draft him with the sixth overall pick. McCarthy was later selected 10th by the Minnesota Vikings.
As for Sanders, opinions on his draft stock vary widely. Some evaluators rank him as a potential top-five pick, while others see him as a late first-round selection. In 2024, he threw for 4,134 yards, posted a 37-to-10 touchdown-to-interception ratio, and led the nation with a 74.0% completion rate. If he impresses in this final session, he could still be the Giants’ pick at No. 3.
