JUST IN: Giants Receive Ground-breaking New Quarterback Update

The NFL Draft is now less than a week away, and on Thursday night, Giants GM Joe Schoen, head coach Brian Daboll, and the rest of the front office are poised to make a franchise-defining decision with the No. 3 overall pick. Speculation continues to swirl about their direction. Some league insiders suggest the Giants are targeting Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter, while others believe they favor Colorado’s two-way star, Travis Hunter. Adding to the mystery, the team recently hosted private workouts with quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders, Jalen Milroe, and Tyler Shough.

What Path Will the Giants Choose?
Of the three quarterbacks, only Sanders appears to be a realistic option at No. 3. The Colorado standout is viewed by many as the second-best QB prospect behind Cam Ward, though opinions on him vary. Supporters highlight his pinpoint accuracy, resilience, and knack for big moments—traits that could make him just as NFL-ready as Ward. Critics, however, see him as a fringe first-rounder at best.

The timing of Sanders’ workout hints at a divided opinion within the Giants organization. A final up-close evaluation could tip the scale either way. It mirrors last year’s process when New York brought in JJ McCarthy for a last-minute visit but ultimately chose Malik Nabers instead.

Could Milroe or Shough Be the Target Instead?
It’s also possible that the Giants see real potential in Milroe or Shough. If so, they might wait until the second round to grab one. Their evaluations will be key—if the front office sees little separation between Sanders and the other two, it increases the likelihood they opt for Milroe or Shough later on.

Both QBs come with major question marks. Milroe is a dynamic runner with rare athleticism, but he’s inconsistent as a passer. His upside is enormous, but so is his risk. Shough, conversely, is a polished passer with impressive 2024 tape, yet concerns linger over his durability and age—having suffered major injuries in three consecutive seasons and turning 26 before the 2026 campaign.

Could It All Be Deception?
Schoen has a track record of misleading the competition. Just last year, most analysts were convinced the Giants were targeting JJ McCarthy, only for the team to go in a different direction. The same could be happening now. The buzz around Sanders has cooled recently, and the fact that no definitive info has leaked could suggest New York is playing it close to the vest.

These late-stage QB workouts may be strategic misdirection. Perhaps the Giants are planning to simply choose between Hunter or Carter—whoever is left at No. 3. Or maybe their final evaluation of Sanders will be the deciding factor in how the rest of Round 1 unfolds.

So, are the Giants genuinely torn on Sanders? Do they believe he’s the next franchise quarterback, or do they view him as closer in caliber to developmental prospects like Milroe and Shough? Bringing in three quarterbacks for workouts so late in the process certainly adds intrigue. With Cam Ward and Travis Hunter expected to go early, the draft’s real drama might begin when the Giants are on the clock.
