Following another frustrating conclusion to their season, the Buffalo Bills have turned the page and begun preparations for the upcoming year.
Quarterback Josh Allen, along with several veteran teammates, reported to the team facility to kick off the offseason program. The team will hold meetings and workouts throughout the spring, beginning just days ahead of the NFL Draft.
The Bills released a video showing players arriving for the program, and Josh Allen’s appearance in particular caught the attention of fans eager to see the team back in action.
Josh Allen’s Gloomy Arrival
Josh Allen and his teammates arrived at the team’s facility just outside Buffalo despite gloomy spring weather, making their way through a rainstorm. It was Allen’s first time back in Buffalo since being named league MVP at the end of last season, and the players’ first return to the facility since clearing out their lockers after their AFC Championship loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Fans were thrilled to see Josh Allen back in action and focused on the new season. “I’ve missed this sight so much,” one fan commented on the team’s Instagram post. Another added, “The MVP is in the building!!”
The Bills also posted footage of other players arriving, including wide receiver Khalil Shakir and tight end Dalton Kincaid. Allen’s return marked a symbolic fresh start, helping fans move on from the disappointment of last season’s near-miss. After falling short in the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Allen admitted the team didn’t do enough to seal the win.
“To be the champs, you’ve got to beat the champs, and we didn’t do that tonight,” Allen said, per NFL.com.
Head coach Sean McDermott echoed that sentiment, acknowledging the need for continued growth to overcome their playoff roadblock. While the Chiefs moved on to their third consecutive Super Bowl—eventually losing to the Eagles—McDermott emphasized his pride in the team’s progress and determination.
“We’ve got to keep working to get over that hump,” McDermott said. “We’ve battled hard and beaten some strong opponents, and I’m proud of that. This is clearly a challenge, but we’ll find a way through it.”
Bills Officially Kick Off 2025 Campaign
The grind officially began on Monday, although it will still be some time before the Bills take the field for full-speed practices. As Ralph Ventre of SI.com pointed out, Monday’s voluntary workouts marked the beginning of the 2025 season, even if no actual football action is underway yet.
“Known as Phase 1, the initial two weeks focus strictly on meetings, strength and conditioning, and rehab work,” Ventre explained.
Following this stage, Phase 2 will span three weeks and introduce on-field group instruction and drills, though full team practices won’t kick off until the final four-week phase before summer.
The Bills will also be adding fresh faces to the roster later this week, as the NFL Draft begins Thursday with the first round, followed by rounds two and three on Friday, and the final rounds wrapping up on Saturday.
