For much of the recruiting cycle for the high school class of 2025, Duke basketball held the top spot in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. But after months of leading the pack, the Blue Devils have slipped to No. 3.
As of now, Duke’s 2025 recruiting class ranks third according to 247Sports. Houston has taken over the top spot, while Arizona has climbed into second following the commitment of five-star recruit Brayden Burries.
Houston’s impressive haul includes three top-25 prospects: five-star big man Chris Cenac Jr. (No. 7 overall), Isaiah Harwell (No. 16), and Kingston Flemings (No. 23). Head coach Kelvin Sampson, whose Cougars ended Duke’s Final Four run before falling to Florida in the national title game, looks poised for another championship push — and possibly a No. 1 preseason ranking next year.
Arizona secured commitments from Koa Peat (No. 8 overall), four-star Dwayne Aristode, and Burries, boosting their class significantly.
Duke, meanwhile, is still bringing in elite talent. Head coach Jon Scheyer has landed the No. 3 overall recruit, Cameron Boozer, along with his twin brother, four-star point guard Cayden Boozer. Four-star forward Nik Khamenia is also part of the incoming class.
The Blue Devils did suffer a setback recently when five-star signee Shelton Henderson decommitted and reopened his recruitment.

After a relatively quiet start to the offseason in terms of roster movement, more clarity is emerging for Duke. Guards Caleb Foster and Darren Harris, both key pieces for the 2025-26 backcourt, have confirmed they’ll return.
On the other hand, Tyrese Proctor, Cooper Flagg, and Kon Knueppel have all declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. While there was a slim chance Proctor would stay, none of their departures came as a surprise.
One big question mark remains: Isaiah Evans. The rising sophomore guard, one of the best shooters in the country, hasn’t announced his plans yet. He’s a legitimate NBA Draft prospect and would also be a hot commodity in the transfer portal — but a return to Duke is still on the table.
As the offseason progresses, expect more developments regarding Duke’s 2024–25 roster. For now, this is the current outlook.
