MLB Makes Historic Mets Announcement After Phillies Game

The New York Mets are off to a scorching start in the 2025 season, winning 18 of their first 25 games — including a current seven-game winning streak following Wednesday night’s victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. They now hold a dominant five-game lead in the National League East, the largest lead of any division in Major League Baseball. The Mets have already delivered several thrilling moments this year, with dramatic walk-off wins and clutch finishes. No team has been more dominant at home either, as New York has made history through its first 13 games at Citi Field.

In a post on Wednesday following the Mets’ walk-off win over the Phillies, MLB shared a historic milestone: New York’s 12-1 home record marks the best start at home in franchise history. That wasn’t the only highlight — the league also noted the Mets’ sweep of Philadelphia, their MLB-best overall record, and their ongoing seven-game winning streak.

The Mets’ strong home performance comes as no surprise, thanks in large part to their outstanding pitching staff. With a combined ERA of 2.34 at home, they lead all of baseball in that category. Additionally, their +25 run differential over their first 13 home games ranks fourth in the majors.

Last season, the Mets finished with a 46-35 home record, a .549 winning percentage. This season, they’re on track for an incredible 75-6 record at Citi Field, though that pace is unlikely to last. Regardless, it’s evident that Citi Field has become a tough place for visiting teams to play.
