Blockbuster: UW’s Impressive Recruitment Move Flips Another Top Prospect From Rival Program

Securing a commitment from a five-star prospect is a major achievement for any program. It’s even more impressive when the prospect has local connections and switches from a rival school, which is exactly what the UW Huskies just pulled off.

Greg Biggins of 247Sports.com reported that class of 2026 offensive lineman changed his commitment from Oregon to UW. Top prospect later confirmed the news with a post on social media.

He is a four-star recruit, ranked 25th overall and the No. 4 offensive tackle in the country by 247Sports, and No. 37 overall by ESPN. He began his high school career at Eastside Catholic in Sammamish before transferring to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif., ahead of the 2024 season.

His commitment flip represents a break from the trend of top Washington offensive linemen choosing Oregon. In recent years, recruits like Josh Conerly Jr., David Iuli, Fox Crader, and Demetri Manning have all committed to the Ducks.

Greene is the highest-rated recruit and the first offensive lineman from the 2026 class to commit to UW. The Huskies’ 2026 recruiting class, which now has nine commits, is currently ranked 19th by 247Sports.

Standing 6’6″ and weighing 285 pounds, Greene also had offers from major programs like Alabama, Michigan, and Texas A&M. His comparison on 247Sports is to Conerly, who is projected as a first-to-second-round pick in the NFL Draft.

Additionally, Greene’s older brother, Kayden, is a safety on the UW roster.
