BAD NEWS: Duke Loses Another Freshman To Emigration Complications

Duke freshman center, a 7-foot-2 standout from South Sudan, has officially confirms departure. This announcement comes amid potential complications due to a recent U.S. immigration policy targeting South Sudanese nationals. Despite these challenges, His decision marks a major milestone in his basketball career.

His declaration comes at a time of uncertainty. On April 5, the U.S. State Department revoked the visas of all South Sudanese passport holders, citing the country’s refusal to accept repatriated citizens. This change has raised concerns about his ability to stay in the U.S. and participate in the NBA Draft.

In his only season at Duke, he impressed with an average of 8.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. His strong performance helped propel the Blue Devils to an ACC tournament championship and a Final Four appearance.
