Virginia Tech football: Hokies add more defensive line help for 2025

The Virginia Tech Hokies have been gaining momentum lately. Although their 2025 starting lineup is largely settled, the team needed more experienced depth. After spring practice, several Hokies entered the transfer portal—mostly players who were lower on the depth chart.

Recently, Tech added North Dakota State defensive tackle, who brings a strong resume and will compete for a starting role. The Hokies also secured a commitment from Hawaii cornerback. Shortly after, Georgia Southern defensive lineman announced he’d be joining the Hokies as well.

At 6-foot-3 and 290 pounds, Elhadj Fall adds both size and experience to Virginia Tech’s defensive line. Much like Kody Huisman, Fall offers the physical profile to anchor the interior under new defensive coordinator Sam Siefkes and will be in the mix for a starting role in 2025. He visited Blacksburg earlier this spring.

A native of Marietta, Georgia, Fall redshirted in 2022 before appearing in all 13 games with one start in 2023, tallying 19 tackles, five tackles for loss, and four sacks—earning Freshman All-American Honorable Mention honors from College Football News.

In 2024, he again played in every game with one start, logging over 400 snaps and finishing with 20 tackles, including 4.5 for loss and 2.5 sacks. Fall has two years of eligibility left.

With Aeneas Peebles and Josh Fuga moving on to the NFL, Fall and Huisman will battle for snaps alongside returning contributors like Kelvin Gilliam Jr., Kemari Copeland, and Gerard Johnson.

Welcome to Blacksburg, Elhadj.
