Breaking News: Kings Lands a Highly Versatile Top Trade Target in Offseason Deal

The Sacramento Kings are headed for what could be a very active offseason.

Following their exit in the NBA Play-In Tournament, the franchise faces a crucial decision: continue pushing for contention or tear the roster down and rebuild.

Given the Kings’ recent approach, they’ll likely choose to keep competing. That path makes sense, especially with Domantas Sabonis—arguably the NBA’s top rebounder—anchoring the team.

The Kings shocked the NBA world by dealing star guard De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs, but they managed to acquire Zach LaVine in return.

The trade raised eyebrows among NBA fans—especially Bulls supporters—who are all too familiar with the limitations of a team built around Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan.

That reality could push new general manager Scott Perry to put his stamp on the roster, potentially starting with a move involving DeRozan.

In a recent trade proposal from ABC10’s Matt George, the Kings were linked once again to a familiar name: Kyle Kuzma, a former top trade target for the franchise. “Every summer, it feels like Kuzma’s name comes up with the Kings—it’s practically tradition at this point,” George joked. “Why stop now?”

Kyle Kuzma posted an average of 14.8 points per game during the regular season with the Washington Wizards and Milwaukee Bucks, but his performance dropped off significantly in the playoffs.

In the Bucks’ five-game playoff series against the Indiana Pacers, Kuzma struggled significantly, averaging only 5.8 points per game and going scoreless in Game 1. To make matters worse, he didn’t register a single stat in that opener aside from two personal fouls.

Still, the Bucks could benefit from a veteran scorer like DeRozan, while the Kings—especially during the regular season—might welcome Kuzma’s offensive contributions.
