For the second straight year, the Sacramento Kings failed to make the playoffs—and now, the shake-up has begun. The organization is overhauling both its front office and coaching staff, with the headline move being the hiring of new general manager Scott Perry.
With Perry now leading the charge, the big question is how he’ll reshape the roster. One thing is clear: changes are necessary.
Sacramento’s roster flaws have been glaring. As ESPN’s Bobby Marks highlighted, the team’s biggest needs are perimeter shooting and defense.
“The Kings had the league’s worst 3-point defense (38.1%) and gave up 14.5 made threes per game this season,” Marks noted, “tied for sixth most in NBA history. They went just 18-31 when outscored from beyond the arc.”
The Kings have long been searching for reliable 3-and-D wings, but consistency at that position has eluded them. While 2022 fourth overall pick Keegan Murray has shown promise with his two-way versatility, Sacramento would need a major leap from him to truly fill the void.
The Kings are facing a pivotal offseason, and while significant changes are on the horizon, their top priority should be addressing clear roster weaknesses—most likely through trades.

It’s highly unlikely that the trio of Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, and DeMar DeRozan will remain intact next season, as at least one of them will likely be moved to help patch the team’s most pressing flaws.
