Huge Update: Kings Confirms Stunning Cooper Flagg Announcement

The Sacramento Kings have the smallest chance of securing the top pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, with only a 0.8 percent probability, but perhaps no fan base deserves it more. They haven’t won a championship since 1951, when they were known as the Rochester Royals, and haven’t had a true superstar since before the Vietnam War.

Top star has been labeled a potential franchise-changing player and is considered the consensus No. 1 pick, joining the ranks of prospects like Anthony Davis, Victor Wembanyama, and Zion Williamson as the best to come along since LeBron James.

This offseason, there has been a push for the Kings to rebuild as thoroughly as possible, with center Domantas Sabonis seen as the only key player worth keeping.

The Kings have already moved on from De’Aaron Fox, and Cooper Flagg could be the player they’ve been seeking since they traded away Oscar Robertson in 1970.

“With Sacramento looking to transition from the De’Aaron Fox era, landing Flagg would be the perfect way to do it,” wrote Sam Vencenie of The Athletic. “A roster overhaul is needed anyway this summer, especially with the hiring of new GM Scott Perry. It’s also somewhat discouraging that the Kings essentially recreated the ‘Play-In Chicago Bulls West’ by pairing DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine. Still, there are valuable pieces, including All-Star center Domantas Sabonis.”

Duke Blue Devils center Khaman Maluach (9) and Duke Blue Devils forward Cooper Flagg (2).

A frontcourt featuring Sabonis and Flagg would be a strong foundation, though the team would still need a few more pieces to become competitive. However, with those two, Sacramento would finally have a true building block.
