‘Huge Boost’: Duke Basketball Officially Confirm the Return of Top Talented 5-Star Player to Team

Three weeks ago, the forward informed the Duke basketball program of his intention to return to Durham for his sophomore season. However, just a week later, the former five-star recruit from North Meck High School in North Carolina appeared among the early entrants for the NBA Draft.

No need for concern, though. The NBA Communications account have announced that the 6-foot-6, 175-pound Evans has officially withdrawn from the 2025 NBA Draft and will skip this week’s NBA Draft Combine in Chicago.

With that decision, Isaiah Evans is now expected to play a major role in Duke’s backcourt for the 2025–26 season, which will be head coach Jon Scheyer’s fourth year leading the program.

During his freshman campaign, Evans saw limited minutes early on but still managed to average 6.8 points and 1.1 rebounds in 13.8 minutes per game. He proved to be an efficient and timely scorer, shooting 41.6% from three-point range and 81.3% from the free-throw line.

His contributions came during a highly successful season for the Blue Devils, who tallied 35 wins, captured the ACC Tournament title, and advanced to the 2025 Final Four.
