The New York Rangers are anticipated to make significant moves this offseason, and one of those could involve trading star forward Artemi Panarin.
A trade proposal from a user on PuckPedia’s PuckGM tool suggests the Rangers send Panarin to the Anaheim Ducks in a blockbuster deal.
Proposed Trade:
Rangers receive:
- Trevor Zegras
- Tyson Hinds
- 2025 first-round pick
- 2025 second-round pick (via Winnipeg)
Ducks receive:
- Artemi Panarin
This potential trade would be a major shake-up, as New York would part with Panarin in exchange for a promising young forward, a defensive prospect, and two valuable draft picks—including the No. 10 overall selection.
The highlights of the return for New York would be Zegras and the draft picks. Zegras, a 24-year-old entering the final year of his $17.25 million contract, could immediately step into a top-six role and bring some youth to the Rangers’ core. Last season, he registered 12 goals and 20 assists over 57 games.
Hinds, a 22-year-old defenseman, has spent the past two seasons in the AHL and might be ready to compete for an NHL spot next season.
On the other side, Anaheim would land Panarin, a dynamic forward who would instantly bolster the Ducks’ lineup with elite talent. Panarin is entering the final year of his seven-year, $81.5 million contract. He tallied 37 goals and 52 assists for 89 points in 80 games last season. Anaheim would likely seek to extend his deal as part of the trade.
Panarin on the Trade Block?
Following the Rangers’ failure to reach the playoffs, major roster changes are anticipated. Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, and Chris Kreider are all reportedly potential trade candidates, with Panarin expected to command the biggest return.
NHL insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period recently reported that the Rangers are open to moving Panarin.
“In the last few days, I’m starting to hear some interesting whispers surrounding Artemi Panarin,” Pagnotta said. “I don’t know if he’s fully available, but with one year left on his contract, the team has to decide whether to stick with the current core or move him for a significant return and free up cap space.”
Pagnotta added that while it may be too early to say definitively, Panarin’s future in New York is one of the key offseason storylines to watch. Panarin has spent six seasons with the Rangers and is a two-time NHL All-Star.

Rangers Make Swift Coaching Change
In addition to potential roster shakeups, the Rangers have already made a big move behind the bench. After parting ways with Peter Laviolette, the team hired Mike Sullivan as their new head coach. Sullivan, previously let go by the Pittsburgh Penguins, is widely regarded as one of the NHL’s top coaching minds.
“As soon as Mike became available, we acted quickly and aggressively to bring him in,” said GM Chris Drury. “We’re thrilled to have him on board. There’s a lot of work ahead.”
Sullivan brings a winning pedigree, having led the Penguins to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 2016 and 2017.
