Breaking News: Buckeyes Confirm Ground-breaking Recruit For Another Top Physically Gifted Star In Blockbuster

As many enjoy the long weekend, Ohio State remains hard at work on the recruiting front.

The Buckeyes confirm landing another key piece for their 2026 class when four-star wide receiver revealed his top seven schools and announced a date for his college commitment.

Standing at 6-foot and weighing 170 pounds, he is ranked as the No. 11 wide receiver and No. 100 overall prospect in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite. He also holds the distinction of being the top-rated player from New York. With his commitment date set for June 13, he will be choosing from a final group of schools that includes Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, Syracuse, and Ohio State.

At the moment, Oregon is considered the frontrunner to land the talented wideout. A major reason for that is Ducks wide receivers coach Ross Douglas, who had been heavily recruiting top star during his time at Syracuse before making the move to Oregon earlier this year. As a result, both On3’s Steve Wiltfong and Oregon insider Justin Hopkins have logged predictions in favor of the Ducks.

Still, Ohio State remains a serious contender. Brian Hartline, known for consistently landing elite talent at the position, won’t go down without a fight—especially if Hampton is one of his top targets. The Buckeyes will also have the final chance to impress, as they’re set to host Hampton for an official visit on June 13, the very day he plans to announce his commitment. That visit comes just a week after Hampton travels to Eugene for his Oregon official.

“Ohio State is WRU,” Hampton told On3 earlier this year. “Coach Hartline is a great receivers coach and he is the new offensive coordinator, so I want to get back and see them again this spring.”

With just a few weeks to go, this recruitment battle between two Big Ten powerhouses is far from over.

When it comes to visits, Ohio State is set to welcome a steady stream of high-profile recruits to the Woody Hayes Athletic Center over the next few weeks. Several top prospects are scheduled to make their way to Columbus soon.

Off the football field, Ohio State scored a significant win on the baseball side with the commitment of Kayden Campbell. The 6-foot-2 infielder, younger brother of Boston Red Sox second baseman Kristian Campbell, is ranked No. 316 nationally and No. 26 in Georgia for the 2026 class.

Campbell becomes the third top-500 recruit to pledge to the Buckeyes in this cycle, joining catcher Jeffrey Claycomb from Texas and pitcher Landon Thiel.
