The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles have taken a more subdued approach this offseason. After being one of the league’s more aggressive teams a year ago, they’ve chosen patience and restraint following their Super Bowl LIX triumph.
Still, despite limited activity in free agency, the Eagles managed to land premium talent. With the 31st overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they selected standout linebacker from Alabama—a prospect widely regarded as one of the top rookies in this year’s class.
Injuries to his shoulder and knees caused him to slip down the draft board all the way to Philadelphia.
That hasn’t deterred the Eagles, who expect him to make an immediate impact on their elite defense once he’s fully healthy.
That’s why Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski dubbed him Philadelphia’s “most dangerous new addition” of the offseason.
“Welp, he finally did it with the selection of Alabama’s Jihaad Campbell. Or did he? Campbell started out as an edge defender for the Crimson Tide before fully transitioning to off-ball linebacker,” Sobleski said. “Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio can deploy him in multiple ways to disguise defensive looks and craft diverse pressure schemes that keep opposing quarterbacks guessing.”
Campbell enters a linebacker group anchored by First-Team All-Pro Zack Baun and veteran leader Nakobe Dean. While the core already boasts potential starters, Campbell’s upside adds an exciting new dimension to Philadelphia’s defense.
If he can stay healthy, the Eagles will have landed one of the league’s top young defenders—once again!
