Just In: Eagles Dallas Goedert Confirms Big Announcement Regarding Future With Team

The Philadelphia Eagles had an eventful offseason, parting ways with several key contributors from last year’s Super Bowl squad. One name that consistently surfaced in trade speculation was veteran tight end. For much of the offseason, it appeared that his days in Philadelphia were numbered. Yet as organized team activities (OTAs) begin, the 30-year-old tight end remains with the team, a somewhat surprising development considering the buzz around his potential departure. Despite the uncertainty, keeping him made sense—he’s long been a reliable piece in the Eagles’ offensive puzzle.

Now that the dust has settled, top star is opening up about the whirlwind of emotions he experienced during that uncertain stretch. Speaking with NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Reuben Frank, the veteran tight end described just how mentally taxing the trade rumors were. “There were definitely days that were filled with emotion,” he admitted. “I’d sit on the couch, stare at the TV and just think, ‘What’s going to happen?’ It was the first time I had to go through something like that in my seven offseasons, so I consider myself lucky, but it was still tough.”

In addition to addressing the trade chatter, Goedert candidly discussed his contract outlook. Having signed a lucrative deal back in 2021, he acknowledged the importance of feeling fairly compensated moving forward. “I’ve been blessed with a good contract,” he said. “I don’t want to play for less. I know my value, and I believe the Eagles do too. We had to find a number that felt right for me—something that made me feel like my time and effort were worth it. Fortunately, we were able to get there.”

Goedert appeared in only 10 games last season, posting 42 catches for 496 yards and two touchdowns. In 2023, he totaled 59 receptions for 592 yards and three scores. While he may not be among the elite tight ends in the league, his steady presence offers valuable support for quarterback Jalen Hurts. With the Eagles eyeing another championship run in 2025, retaining dependable veterans like Goedert could be crucial, especially after losing players like Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, Darius Slay, Isaiah Rodgers, and Oren Burks during the offseason. After a rocky few months, Goedert is focused on proving his worth and helping Philadelphia contend once again.
