The Cardinals have promoted one of their top outfield prospects, Travis Honeyman, to High-A Peoria following an impressive start to the season at Low-A Palm Beach.
Honeyman, a third-round pick by St. Louis in the 2023 MLB Draft, earned the promotion after a strong showing at Palm Beach, where he posted a .321/.446/.443 slash line across 29 games. During that stretch, he tallied 5 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 8 RBIs, 7 stolen bases, and drew 20 walks. A refined hitter from his days at Boston College, Honeyman needed a greater challenge than Low-A, especially as he was nearly two years older than most players at that level.
The decision to begin his season in Low-A was a cautious one, as Honeyman had appeared in only 20 games the previous year due to shoulder injuries that required surgery and ended his season early. Despite the limited action, he still hit .342/.415/.493 in those appearances, split between the Florida Complex League and Palm Beach.
This season, the 23-year-old has primarily patrolled center field, playing 26 games there and 2 in left field, while not committing an error over 223 innings. He’s expected to continue rotating around the outfield alongside fellow prospect Zach Levenson.

Honeyman made his High-A debut on Tuesday night, going 1-for-3 with a walk, but his second game was cut short on Wednesday when he appeared to injure his calf running to first base. He left the game immediately after.
The severity of the injury is not yet known, but Honeyman remains a key prospect to keep an eye on once he returns to Peoria’s lineup.
